Money is one of the most common sources of conflict in relationships, often fueling tension, misunderstandings, and even financial infidelity. This workshop will deepen your understanding of the psychological drivers behind financial behaviors and provide practical tools to foster healthier financial communication and collaboration between partners.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify the impact of formative financial experiences
- Participants will be able to describe how childhood financial circumstances and formative experiences shape individual beliefs and behaviors about money in adulthood.
- Recognize individual differences in financial beliefs and behaviors
- Participants will learn to recognize and articulate individual differences in financial attitudes, including the symbolic meanings and emotional projections associated with money.
- Apply the Imago couples journey to financial dynamics
- Participants will be able to apply the stages of the Imago Couples Journey (romantic stage, power struggle, etc.) to understand how couples experience and manage financial issues throughout their relationship.
- Assess and conceptualize financial power struggles in couples
- Participants will develop skills to assess financial power struggles, identify sources of financial conflict, and begin to conceptualize effective treatment plans for couples facing money-related challenges.
- Integrate financial topics into clinical practice
- Participants will gain strategies for addressing financial issues in psychotherapy, including understanding financial transference and countertransference, and fostering healthy financial relationships that support empowerment and clarity.
This webinar will be presented online via Zoom and is intended for Imago Therapists and Facilitators at the intermediate level.

Sally K. Palaian, PhD is a licensed psychologist recently retired from private practice after 40 years. She has specialized in the treatment of Trauma and Addictive Behaviors (Money, Food, Alcohol, Gambling, Relationships, Sex) as well as Imago Relationship Therapy. She’s also certified in Holotropic Breathwork, and EMDR.
In addition to her private practice, Sally speaks about the sources of financial dysfunctions, money in interpersonal dynamics, the treatment of compulsive spending, shopping addiction, paying off debts, developing budgets, and financial underachievement. For the past 30 years, she has helped countless individuals and couples to vision their future, crunch numbers, and make long-term financial and lifestyle decisions.
