Listening When You’d Rather Not: Bridging Divides
$180.00Add to cart
In this series of four 90-minute sessions, we will examine why it is so difficult to tolerate and listen to people who have opposing beliefs and how to find a way to listen when we’d rather not. Then we will look at ways that Imago therapists and social justice organizations are able to be a part of the solution to healing our divided country.
After this course, participants will be able to:
- Discuss and understand our defensive survival system when faced with difference
- State and clarify the ways Imago therapy helps people listen deeply despite disliking and even disrespecting those we live with or care for, even across the political and racial divides
- Demonstrate how Communologue and Safe Conversations and other Imago techniques have been used to bring help to our larger communities
- Compare and discuss some social justice organizations and their (often similar) methods of bridging divides
The agenda for each session will be as follows:
0:00 – 0:10 Introduction
0:10 – 0:30 Lecture with videos
0:30 – 0:45 Q&A
0:45 – 1:00 Recorded interviews
1:00 – 1:15 Break out rooms
1:15 – 1:30 Group discussion
