Beyond the Wizard’s Illusion, Back to the Power Within
In this evocative and deeply experiential webinar, Nedra Fetterman, PhD, invites participants to explore the timeless story of The Wizard of Oz as a living metaphor for psychological and relational transformation. The tale’s symbols—the tornado of disruption, the illusion of the all-knowing Wizard, and the ruby slippers’ quiet truth—illustrate how power is lost, projected, and reclaimed. Through guided reflection and experiential exercises, we trace the journey from adaptation and survival toward authentic connection and inner alignment.
Participants will discover how relational power differs from ego-centered control and how the therapeutic process honors clients’ adaptations while restoring vitality and wholeness. Through video, dialogue, and small group sharing, therapists and Imago professionals will uncover the deep wisdom concealed beneath protective strategies…rediscovering the ability to “return home” to connection, authenticity, and true belonging.
After this session, participants will be able to:
- Apply an Imago and archetypal framework, using story and film, to understand clients’ journeys of healing and growth, identifying core psychological capacities (thinking, feeling, courage, instinct, and the witnessing/regulating function) as they appear clinically and in relational contexts.
- Differentiate between ego-centered and relational forms of power, and identify how each is expressed in clients’ adaptive strategies, internal messages, and relational patterns.
- Identify how early wounds of disconnection and unmet need shape protective adaptations, and describe how the therapeutic relationship can support movement toward greater integration, differentiation, and relational connection.
This webinar will be presented online via Zoom and is intended for Imago Professionals of all levels.

About Nedra Fetterman, PhD
Nedra Fetterman, PhD, is a licensed psychologist in private practice and a Senior Faculty member of the Imago International Training Institute, where she trains therapists nationally and internationally in relational and experiential approaches to healing and growth. With over four decades of clinical experience, Dr. Fetterman integrates Imago Relationship Therapy, archetypal psychology, and embodied, experiential practices into her work.
She is known for her ability to translate complex psychological concepts into accessible, meaningful frameworks that support both therapists and clients in moving toward greater awareness, connection, and wholeness. She taught for many years in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and served as a Senior Associate of the Global Dialogue Institute at Haverford College, contributing to the understanding of relational dialogue and interdisciplinary learning.
Dr. Fetterman teaches that healing occurs not in isolation, but within relationship—where disowned aspects of the self can be reclaimed and integrated. Her work emphasizes the development of safety, emotional attunement, and conscious dialogue as pathways to transformation. She is the author of Undivided: The Field Where Love & Power Meet, and her current work explores the developmental arc of relational healing—what she calls Coming Full Circle—a model of Tending, Trusting, and Flow that supports the emergence of a conscious, integrated, and relational self.
Dr. Fetterman blends clinical depth, poetic insight, and practical application, inviting others into a more conscious and connected way of living and relating.
