Dr Shawntres A Parks, PhD, LMFT, CST

I’m Dr. Shawntres Parks, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, and researcher. For more than a decade, I’ve helped couples find their way back to each other, often after trust, intimacy, or connection has broken down in ways that feel impossible to repair.

My work sits where relationship therapy meets sexual health. Many couples come to me after discovering a partner’s secret pornography use, sexual behavior, or infidelity. I approach this work through a betrayal-trauma lens rather than an addiction model. That means I hold space for the hurt partner’s injury while helping the couple understand the behavior underneath it, so both people can do the work of real repair. My ‘Repair Intensive’ program was designed specifically for couples in this season.

I’m deeply committed to BIPOC-centered relational care. Many of the couples I work with are high-achieving, first-generation professionals carrying the weight of family expectations, cultural identity, and racial stress into their most intimate relationships. I co-created the Responsible Relationships™ framework to name and honor those realities, rather than asking couples to fit a model that wasn’t built with them in mind.

My perspective is shaped by roots in early childhood education, clinical psychology, and transpersonal psychology. I believe how we learned to love shapes how we love now, and that healing happens in relationship.

I see clients through my Los Angeles–based practice, Shawntres Parks Consulting, offering couples and sex therapy as well as my 12-week Relationship Reset™ intensive.
