Dr. Carla Trusty-Smith , PhD, LMHC, CAC

Dr. Trusty-Smith, has over 35 years of psychotherapy experience.  Working with individuals, couples, teaching or in clinical supervision she brings authenticity, compassion, mindfulness, respect and focus to the process of building connection, deepening awareness, optimizing integration and health. Her passion is working with couples to optimize their presence with one another, deepen their understanding of the nuances of their particular relationship,  and to discover the joy and satisfaction of conscious partnership.  She and Brian, her husband of 40 years, delight in presenting GTLYW workshops together in their home.  Many of their closest friendships were established in the International Imago community.  Carla considers Imago fundamental to her spiritual path, and she thrives in an environment where she can teach, embody and facilitate its compassionate theoretical principles and practices to promote healing, growth and meaningful connection. After working in an addiction treatment center, an inpatient behavioral care hospital setting, and an Employee Assistance Program, she began her private practice in the early 1990’s. Carla uses a trauma informed, research-based integrative approach having extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, substance use disorders, sexuality, EMDR, and brainspotting.
