Working with resilient couples who are largely within a range of healthy neurotics gives us somewhat of a bench-mark for an experience of helping partners connect safely. Imago’s main skill – the Imago Dialogue – is the main structure for helping partners with the differentiation and connecting the process. It is the self-absorbed couple that presents the many challenges for us in helping them with a process that allows for differentiation and connecting.

In this webinar, we will think about the non-resilient partners who have been so traumatized in infancy and childhood that the underpinnings of relational supports are missing. We will seek to understand some of the developmental ruptures to connecting and see how attempts at connecting are tedious and fragile. We will offer some repair guides for repurposing the negative energy to re-creating moments of connecting.
